Mala Collective

This week we caught up with our friend, Cara Roth, to see how she picked her mala beads and how she is dedicated to showing up fully everyday.

How did you choose your mala? Were you drawn to a particular energy or gemstone?

I chose my Self Love mala because I wanted something to remind me to be present, connected and take care of myself.

Over the past 2 years I've been on a journey of getting to know myself on a deeper level, finding out what I need and learning to put myself first (and how that allows me to serve my family, clients and others on a whole different level).

After going through my own health challenges and gaining clarity around what it took to make me feel good, I realized how vital self-care is. I'm now happy to say that though I need reminding sometimes, I am able to nourish my body mind and soul so that I can show up as my authentic self every day.

Do you see a connection between meditation, yoga and nutrition?

I think there's a huge connection between how we nourish ourselves and how we show up in the world. When we become more connected with our bodies and more conscious of what we consume we feel better about ourselves, are more inspired to take good care of ourselves, and have the energy and time do things like yoga and meditation.

We not only start to enjoy moving our body and centring our mind but we crave it. We've all felt unbalanced or just plain gross after eating the wrong foods or over-indulging in alcohol or sugar. With a nourished body you have the clarity, strength and confidence to take time to nourish yourself in other ways.

I can't tell you how many times a nutrition client of mine has experienced huge shifts in their life and daily habits just from making a few simple changes to what they eat.

In the reverse order, meditation and yoga allow you to be more connected with your body and inspire you to make better food choices. I think all three marry together beautifully and are much more powerful together than each practice alone.

What is your favorite way to take a moment for yourself each day?

Running, yoga and meditation are easily my top 3! The more time I take for myself and the more I live my days with ease, the more healthy, happy and abundant I become.

I love the gentle presence of my mala during yoga and mediation to set a strong intention to nourish myself through small daily habits that have a huge positive impact on my life.
