Butterfly Pose

This pose is a great way to release lower back tension without the pre-requisite of loose hamstrings.

Perfect for first thing in the morning before you start your busy day.

BENEFITS:

Stretches the lower back, groins, abductor muscles and can create space within the hips.

One of the forefathers of Yoga, B.K.S Iyengar, says this pose is good for the kidneys and prostrate gland and highly recommends this pose for people suffering urinary problems.

HOW TO DO IT:

Sit on the floor or on a yoga mat. Bring the soles of your feet together. If this irritates your hips, than sit up on a yoga block, couch cushion or old phone book.

Press the soles of your feet together as you slowly fold from the hips, bringing your chest towards your feet.

Stop once you feel resistance and breath for 5 – 10 breathes.
