Fall Equinox: 3 meditations for balance

3 Creative Meditations for the Fall Equinox September 2018

On September 22nd is the Fall Equinox for 2018 as the Sun moves into the sign of Libra. This time of year represents perfect balance and harmony within ourselves and nature.

Have you been feeling out of balance lately?

A great way to embrace the changing of the seasons is by engaging in meditations that recalibrate and harmonize your body, mind, and soul.

As Libra’s symbol is the scales we are given the opportunity at this time of year to focus on creating adjustments in our lives to feel more aligned and peaceful.

Here are 3 creative meditations you can do during the Fall Equinox.

1. Chakra Balancing Meditation

One way you can bring your body into balance during the Fall Equinox is by going through a visualization meditation on each of your seven main chakras. The word chakra comes from the Sanskrit word for ‘wheel’ and are channels in your body for life force to flow through.

Start by visualizing red for your base or root chakra. Imagine you are breathing in the color red for 3 seconds, hold for 3, and then visualize you are breathing out the color red for 3 seconds. Go through this sequence for each chakra and color using the chart below. Completing this brief visualization meditation on each chakra can help you feel aligned and ready for the Libra Season 2018!

2. Anuloma Vilma or Alternate Nostril Breathing

Another meditation that is perfect for creating a sense a balance during the Fall Equinox is Anuloma Vilma or alternative nostril breathing. Start with a few deep breaths to prepare yourself then follow the steps below.

-Place your index and middle finger on third eye chakra point.

-Plug the right nostril with your thumb and use the ring finger to plug your left.

-Breath out of your left nostril for a count of 4

-Then inhale through your left nostril for a count of 4.

-Close both nostrils.

-Repeat this process on the right side while plugging your left nostril.

You should feel more refreshed and balanced after completing this meditative breathing technique!

3. Create a Mandala for Mindfulness Meditation

As Libra is governed by the planet Venus, doing something creative is a great way to embrace the current energy. One way you can do this is by creating your own meditation mandala tool. To do this you will need a piece of paper and some colored pencils. Draw a circle and proceed to fill in repeating patterns, shapes, and symbols into your circle. Alternatively you can purchase pre-made mandalas to color in.

The purpose of creating the mandala is to bring acute focus and attention to the present moment. This can help clear your mind and give you a clean slate to work from. Thoughts, revelations, and particular feelings may be brought to the surface while a deeper sense of clarity is formed through this process. Creating a mandala helps us understand the cycles of life and the constant flux of energy moving in and out of balance in the universe.

By engaging in these meditative techniques we can create a sense of creative alignment and harmony in our lives.
