Our mission at Mala Collective has always been to inspire mindful evolution. We aim to share mindfulness with the world through tools, practices and physical reminders, and we are now taking this method and sharing it with the younger generation. Why? We believe in the power of meditation and its incredible ability to create positive change in all – including our kids and all future generations.
Here are just some of the benefits mediation can have on our children:
Learning How to Focus:
It’s no secret that the current state of the world is set at a higher pace than ever before. With technology, social media, and many other technological gadgets, our kids – and adults – are constantly engaged with distraction and stimulation.
Meditation is a tool that teaches us how to be able to focus on one thing at a time. It enables us to draw our attention to the present moment and find a sense of calm through the chaos. Learning how to do this at a young age is so important as the world continues to evolve at a fast-paced speed.
Reduces Anxiety & Stress:
By teaching children to find their breath, we are able to give them the ability to find their calm, and be present at any moment – even during the uncomfortable ones.
Incorporating mindfulness practices into children’s daily routine has been known to lower anxiety levels in kids by keeping their baseline stress level down.
Research has shown that when children practice meditation on a regular basis, it can change the brain. Through meditation, brain centers for emotions and executive functioning can be changed and help children in a variety of ways.
It can also help children regulate their emotions, thereby having fewer meltdowns, reduce their impulsivity and improve concentration and focus. Very helpful with children diagnosed with ADHD or ADD.

Becoming mindful and present is known to boost confidence in children by helping them cope with their emotions – they learn that they do not have to react to all of their thoughts and surroundings and instead choose to allocate their attention appropriately and respond in a calm way.
Being in control of any situation – for kids or adults – enables one to feel safe, secure and overall more confident to tackle what’s in front of them.
Builds Empathy and Increases Overall Happiness:
Mindworks meditation expert Trungram Gyalwa says that the more you give to those around you, the more you gain. Children’s meditation helps them learn how to share their love with other children. They become more patient and understanding, listen more readily to others and empathize with them.
Meditation can be a powerful tool for any parent who is looking to help boost their child’s physical and emotional health. We believe in the practice of meditation as a positive, practical, and powerful tool for all – young and old.
